Mukwonago Remodeling's 2009 Milwaukee/Nari Wisconsin Remodeler of The Year Awards
Gold Award - Residential Kitchen Over $120,000
This family of six plus two black Labs needed a functional kitchen for entertaining and dining. All new custom cabinetry was installed with matching doors for the refrigerator and freezer. Plumbing included a dual basin sink with drying rack and a prep sink. A one-of-a-kind hanging soffit that matches the island exactly in shape and size with Xenon accent lighting illuminates the ceiling. The dogs got separate feeding stations at a height recommended by a vet; both had plumbing and dog food storage. A built-in garage was constructed for the water cooler. Thermostatically controlled heated flooring was installed in both the kitchen and dining areas.
Gold Award - Lower Level Under $50,000
The owners wished to make this bare lower level into an extension of the upstairs on a restricted budget. A “tray” ceiling was installed to mask the existing ductwork, creative use of arches and wide columns concealed load-bearing beams, and the staircase was opened up. A fireplace, custom maple bar, under mount sink, plumbing for a dishwasher, ceramic tile, billiards parlor with built-in pool cue alcove, custom vanity, walk-in shower, and glass French-style doors to the workout room were installed. All colors, textures, and woodwork were matched to the main level of the home.
Silver Award - Historic Rennovation Restoration

  Silver Award - Lower Level $50,000 - $100,000
The original house is heated with a boiler and hydronic heat, so a gas direct-vent fireplace was installed, complimented with baseboard heat.
Maximum ceiling height was very important, so we relocated water and gas lines and created “barrel style” arches and curved soffits that conceal the unmovable obstacles.
A custom raised panel maple bar and back bar was constructed on site and matched the upstairs woodwork in wood species, style, and color.  The bar has elegant granite tops, a stemware display, glass front display cabinets, and an undermount sink.
The homeowner has a true love of wine so we installed 2 wine chilling refrigerators, and a “floor to ceiling” wine display rack that serves multiple functions.  It is a hidden doorway that allows entry to the hidden wine cellar!!!  In the wine cellar, we constructed multiple “floor to ceiling” wine display racks, matching the entryway.
Because the homeowner enjoys an occasional cigar, a high volume bathroom exhaust fan was installed directly above the bar, sending smoke to the exterior of the house.
Ceramic tile was installed on the floor surrounding the bar, giving it a true bar atmosphere.
The basement had an existing double transom window that let in very little light.  We removed the windows, cut the concrete block, installed a microlam header and installed “French-style” doors that allow natural light to accent the entire lower level.
We matched the base trim, casing, door style, drywall texture, and fireplace fascia, to the main level as well.
The use of recessed canister lighting was installed to accent the masterpiece created in this lower level.
Bronze Award - Residential Interior Under $50,000

Creativity was used when it came to the design of this second floor transformation.
We removed the load bearing walls using microlams tucked in to the attic cavity to give the ceiling in the master bedroom a “seamless” look.  Relocation of electrical and ductwork was also needed with the wall removal.
We installed wiring and plumbing that extended from the basement circuit breaker box, through the finished first floor, up to the second floor bathroom.  A portion of a rarely used pantry was used for the raceway and it was drywalled to conceal the added utility lines.
New walls were constructed and a new Velux skylight was installed to maximize natural light.  A large “walk-in” closet was constructed with hanging rods and built in organizers.
Construction of a built in component rack was needed to conceal the cable box, it was installed below the new gas direct vent fireplace.
The use of new oak pocket doors was implemented to maximize space.
A 6’ jetted drop-in whirlpool tub was installed in a custom built tub deck that was tiled with a decorative travertine listello.  A gooseneck tub faucet was installed with a matching handheld sprayer and drain kit.
“His & hers” custom maple vanities were installed with raised panel doors and “euro-style” hinges.  Gorgeous granite countertops topped the vanities, with Kohler Caxton under-mount sinks and polished nickel Kohler gooseneck faucets that matched the cabinet hardware.
A concrete shower was installed and topped with ceramic tile with a decorative listello that matched the back of the alcove that was custom built.  Multiple Kohler shower heads were incorporated with diverter valve.
New flooring consisted of ceramic tile in the bathroom and laminate in the bedroom.
We matched the base trim, casing, and door style to the main level.
The use of recessed canister lighting, 2 ceiling fan/lights, and vanity light bars were installed to accent the masterpiece created in this master suite.
